Sligo Adventist Church

I am very familiar with Sligo Adventist Church as was a member throughout much of my life.  I have seen it go through many good times and tough times.  From head pastors that stayed many years to head pastors that spent only a short period, Sligo Church has done its best to maintain a consistent worship service that leaves the congregation feeling like they have been in the presence of God.

Location
Sligo church is located on 8700 Carroll Ave. in Takoma Park, MD.  It is the large non-church looking building right on the edge of Washington Adventist University campus.

Traditional Adventist Service
I would consider Sligo church a more traditional Adventist church service.  With the inclusion of traditional organ music and liturgical readings, Sligo maintains a high reverence feeling.  While many of the evening and young adult services are branching out from the traditional Adventist church experience, the main Sligo church service has continued to remain with a traditional Adventist feel.

Now, under the leadership of Pastor Charles A. Tapp, Sligo has come back to a great position where the community around the church is of a high priority.

Our latest Sligo church experiences
Sligo continues to be a place where I feel completely welcomed.  I will admit, it is easy to feel welcomed in a church that you have attended for many years, but it is hard in a large church experience to sometimes feel lost.  Sligo, being a large church, has continually done a fantastic job in welcoming new members as well as keeping ongoing church members excited to come to church each week.

I look forward to my next opportunity to experience the welcoming environment that Sligo Church can provide.
